Reinvention

One of the best parts about being a fashion lover is how fashion always reinvents itself and it connects you to the past. Yes, I am a crazy vintage lover but I think part of that is my obsession with nostalgia. I love old movies and old styles. I love how women used to wear hats and daily take pride in their appearance. While it has taken me like forever to admit this fact, the truth is that: I love fashion.

Wintery color pops

Today over on HelloLuvvy I am talking about using pops of color in your winter wardrobe. I am in a blushy pink craze and was utterly dying (of happiness) when I found this warm vintage beauty. Check it out!

All the colors!

Today I woke up feeling really excited and extremely motivated. Do you ever do that? I wish I could feel like this everyday, but I guess I am real. I think in life you have those moments where you feel truly defeated. But thankfully these moments are often followed by something exciting or a rush of positivity. Whether or not I can justify my hobbies they make me happy. Expressing myself is the one thing that makes me feel more human and less... hamster in a wheel per se. Putting my energy into creating something, then watching it grow is the most profound excitement. And in the same token, being surrounded by people that can share your hobby and your excitement for an interest makes it all the better. This is my friend Payton (The Window Shopper). We met through a HelloLuvvy collabo and have been working together ever since. Payton has an incredible fashion sense and the perfect cool girl attitude. I love it! I wanted to share with your all a few of our collaborations including links to each individual post.

1. An Interview with The Window Shopper & Country Club Musings.

This is one of my absolute favorite fashion posts over on HelloLuvvy.com.
It was so fun to interview Payton and hear all about her fashion sense and tips.

Our next collaboration was a conceptual piece that I just love, featuring vintage floral house dresses. You'll want to click the link above to see the post in it's entirety.

3. BAMBA

And then lastly and most recent, there was BAMBA. And oh! All the colors!

I really look forward to more collabos with Ms. Payton.

Unsophisticated palate: outfit post

Dress: Vintage from Stitch Vintage & Handmade
Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell
Bag: Fossil
Wine: Brazin Red Zinfandel

Something so fabulous about Spring is not only its physical beauty and a sense of renewal, but also so many more wonderful social activities. There is no shortage of patio parties, camping, river runs, day trips, etc. Last night I was in such good company enjoying the sun on the patio and tasting wine. I must admit that I do have a rather UNsophisticated palate, so it doesn't surprise me that I didn't know how much I like red zinfandels. I truly enjoyed every bottle, so I think it is definitely my new favorite red. I hope you all are enjoying spring as much as I am.

Officially Wu-ed: outfit post

It's official I have been "Wu-ed" by Jason Wu and I am loving it.

Dress, Cardigan, Hand Bag: Jason Wu for Target
Shoes: Marais USA
Belt: Vintage

The hardest part for me was just trying to choose between the available pieces. I loved it all! I was at Target for about two hours. I finally left then ended up going back, exchanging and adding (I am really bad with decision making, ugh). All in all, I am loving everything I got. This blue is probably my favorite color in life, and I rarely find things in this shade. So basically, I ended up building the looks around this color, which makes the hand bag perfect for each outfit. I had to have that bag ;) oohhh la.

Hope you all are having a great day. And yes this is what I am doing instead of watching the super bowl... :)

Sincerely,
Darcy

Guest Blogger: Outfit post with Samantha

Jacket: Express
Dress: Somewhere in Turkey
Shoes: Aldo
Necklace: Juicy Couture

I put together this look with the help of Darcy. We centered it around this wonderful dress my friend brought back from Turkey while traveling. It has a very 70's feel to it with the orange and black pattern . We paired it with solid black tights and these wonderful black heels that I customized by adding Swarovski crystal accents. The bomber jacket is from Express added a punk-rock feel to the outfit. I felt that the clutch added some glam and pulled the whole thing together! The makeup is simple, just some winged eyeliner and mascara. The hair is pin-up inspired with a little punk flare. Oh! And I almost forgot the necklace, it is a favorite of mine by Juicy Couture! It closes at the front with a toggle clasp and a little "J" and heart charm. I'm definitely looking forward to future collaborations with Darcy ^_^ And if you haven't yet, check out my Facebook page for my hair and makeup stuff!

Sincerely,
Samantha

Outfit post: Spring fever!

Dress: Grey Dog Vintage Boutique (1960's original)
Cardigan: H&M
Shoes: Sperry
Clutch: HOBO

Hair and Makeup (love!) by: Samantha Shannon. Visit her Facebook Page!

This dress can twirl ;)

The fact that the sun came out was really the icing on the cake for this day. My friend Samantha came over to do my hair and makeup for this look and we had so much fun! I really wanted to encapsulate 1960's glam, and I think she really got it. Even though it was cold and overcast out, I really wanted to wear my new vintage dress. I knew I had to have it when I found it at Grey Dog. As I was checking out the cashier said, "I love that dress, but I just can't wear yellow." I have heard girls say this so many times, and I am not really sure why. I love yellow. It was one of my wedding colors and I made my sister and sister in-law wear this very color. They both have totally different skin tones and they both looked gorgeous!! So I really think everyone can wear yellow, and we should get over the idea that we can't. This color makes me happy during this drab weather. I can't wait for Spring!!! I can totally see myself styling this dress again for summer. No cardigan or tights, maybe different shoes, but I just had to wear it now. Hope you all are surviving winter, I know it hasn't been the worst (knock on wood), but I am still ready for warmer temps.

I am really excited because there is going to be a "behind the scenes" post coming up featuring Samantha and some awesome tutorials. It is in the works ladies and you will love it!

We All Need Art: Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art

I finally got to go to Crystal Bridges  with my family and, WOW it was so freaking unbelievable. We absolutely loved it! I am so thankful for this establishment, and that I get to go back anytime and for free! As many of you know being an Arkansan, we often times get a bum rap and well, I am pretty sick of people who seriously think they are amazing because of where they are from. Ridiculous! There was an article written in the Washington Post, that confronted this issue. Just why would Alice Walton construct, and donate all this incredible art to this middle of no where place, where nobody who is anybody, I suppose, would get to see it. Well, let me tell you why:  Hillbillies need art too!

Blazer: The Attic, Shirt: H&M, Scarf: Frenzy, Bag: D&B
Vintage coat, leggings, steve madden oxfords.

We love it, and GET it, and UNDERSTAND it, and APPRECIATE it just as much as the next ass hole. I am lucky to have gone to a few fine art museums in my life and I think its important to point out that this one is just as wonderful as the MOMA, Guggenheim, Pompidou, etc. And dare I say it, maybe even better?? Okay I could be a little biased.

However, there is one difference that may not be obvious to the untrained eye. The fact that there was such a diverse crowd there admiring each piece. Yes, there were some "hillbillies or rednecks" as some of you might refer to them. There were also, yuppies, hipsters,

Hipster: duh.

old, young, rich, poor, hoity toity, etc..  My sister pointed out at one point that she had never seen so many wheel chairs in a museum. My Granny Ruth was one of the many elderly population in the museum. Being raised in Marshall, AR., and 80 years old, this was her first time to ever go to a fine art museum.

How wonderful that it is finally available for her and many like her. So thank you Alice. While I am not always the biggest fan of the billion dollar Corp. your Dad started years ago, I am very thankful that you were willing to put such an amazing spectacle here, in B.F.E., U.S.A., Arkansas.

Incredibleness

Sorry I don't have the artist listed with each piece.
You will just have to go and check it out for yourselves.

Sincerely,
Darcy
